- Purpose and Notice
The purpose of this Policy is to provide Notice to users as to the purposes for which PI Worldwide collects information about them. It also describes the manner in which PI Worldwide handles personal information collected in connection with the administration of the Predictive Index® (the “Predictive Index” or “PI®”) as well as other products and services. In this Policy, the term “personal information” means information that identifies, or can be used to identify, an individual. This Policy provides Notice to all users and is available before personal information is obtained from them.
- The Information we collect
Respondents to the PI® are asked to provide the following information: first and last name and email address. They are also asked to provide responses to the PI (which consists of adjectives chosen by the respondent).
In addition to the personal information collected when the user completes the Predictive Index, other information may be collected when other PI Worldwide products are used or when a user agrees to answer optional research questions. In this case, the information requested may include the following: customer-provided group designation, age, years of experience, ethnicity, gender, country of origin, education level, position level, company name, relationship to PI Worldwide, title, and occupation. PI Worldwide may collect technical information about the user’s browser and operating system in order to enhance the user’s experience.
PI Worldwide and its distributors collect additional personal information from PI Analysts and employees of Customers who attend sales training. This information includes address, telephone and fax numbers.
We do not collect information from children. Since our assessment tool is designed to be used only by adults age 18 and older, it is not intended for nor used by children.
- The purpose for collecting this information
PI Worldwide may collect, store and use aggregated anonymous information from the administration of the PI and its other products and services in order to improve its business operations and its products. This information does not identify any individual. PI Worldwide also uses log files and other generally available web tracking technologies in operating, maintaining, and improving its accessPI™ and other websites. This information does not contain any personal information and is not linked to any personal information that PI Worldwide holds. PI Worldwide’s software provides Customers with the results of the PI Survey, along with a basic report. PI Worldwide and its distributors also provide other assessment tools and collect information in connection with these other tools.
- We keep your information private and secure
PI Worldwide maintains appropriate technical and organizational security measures designed to ensure the security of personal information covered by this Policy and to protect such personal information from loss, misuse, or unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. PI Worldwide has a written data security policy that describes the policies and procedures by which we and our employees maintain data security.
PI Worldwide does not sell or rent any personal information to any third party. We do not disclose any personal information to any other party except to fulfill the purposes for which the information was disclosed. To fulfill those purposes, PI Worldwide discloses personal information as follows:
- To the Customer and its employees who administer or order the PI, SSAT, ISAT, or other assessment or use the e-learning system;
- To employees of PI Worldwide, our distributors, and their employees and subcontractors for the purposes of database management, administration, customer support, and assistance in interpreting assessment results;
- To subcontractors of PI Worldwide who develop and manage our hardware, software and communications infrastructure; and
- To third party software systems used by the Customer
PI Worldwide maintains contracts with our subcontractors requiring them to comply with the requirements of this Policy. These third parties must provide at least the same level of privacy protection as the Safe Harbor Principles require.
5. Safe Harbor Certification
PI Worldwide complies with the U.S – EU Safe Harbor Framework and the U.S.-Swiss Safe Harbor Framework as set forth by the U.S. Department of Commerce regarding the collection, use, and retention of personal information from European Union member countries and Switzerland. PI Worldwide has certified that it adheres to the Safe Harbor Privacy Principles of notice, choice, onward transfer, security, data integrity, access, and enforcement. The Safe Harbor privacy principles require that PI Worldwide provide users with choice which is the right to opt out as to whether personal information is disclosed to a third party, other than the following: agents, third party software systems, or the Customer. We do not disclose personal information except to our agents or to third party software systems used by the Customer or PI Worldwide or to the Customer for the benefit of whom the user provided the information. PI Worldwide uses personal information only for the purposes for which it was collected.
A basic principle of Safe Harbor certification is data integrity. PI Worldwide processes personal information only in such a manner that is compatible with the purposes for which it was collected or subsequently authorized by the user. PI Worldwide takes all reasonable steps to ensure that data is reliable for its intended use and is accurate, complete, and current.
Another principle of Safe Harbor is annual review and verification. PI Worldwide conducts an annual self-assessment to verify that this Policy is accurate, comprehensive, prominently displayed, completely implemented, accessible and conforms to the Safe Harbor principles and that employee training and appropriate compliance procedures are in place.
6. Access to your information
If you wish to access your personal information held by PI Worldwide in order to review, correct, amend or delete that information, please send a request to PI Worldwide in writing either by e-mail or post to: Mary Beth Cotter, J.D., Privacy Officer at email@example.com, or at 16 Laurel Ave., Wellesley, MA, 02481, USA.
PI Worldwide will allow a user to review, correct, amend or delete personal information held by us: (a) if the user is a resident of the European Union or Switzerland, to the extent such review, correction, amendment or deletion is required by the Safe Harbor privacy principles; or (b) otherwise, if the Customer on whose behalf the information was collected consents.

PI Worldwide will investigate your concerns promptly and will respond to your correspondence within thirty (30) days. PI Worldwide will provide you with a clear explanation of any decisions made with respect to your request. If you are not satisfied with the manner in which PI Worldwide dealt with your privacy concern, you may use an external recourse mechanism as described below.
EU and Swiss Residents: PI Worldwide is committed to cooperating with European and Swiss data protection authorities in the handling and resolution of complaints brought under the Safe Harbor privacy principles. Any user who is resident in the EU or Switzerland should address his or her concerns to his or her local data protection authority.

Policy for visitors to our website
The purpose of this Policy is to inform visitors to our public website (piworldwide.com) of the procedures we follow and the technology we use to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or release. In this Policy, the term “personal information” means information that identifies, or can be used to identify, an individual. This Policy applies solely to information collected by our public website. Please note that our public website contains links to other sites not owned and/or operated by PI Worldwide; therefore these sites may have privacy policies that differ from our website.
- The Information we collect
Visitors to our website may elect to complete a Business Inquiry form, subscribe to our Monthly eNewsletter, or for other reasons voluntarily submit “personally identifiable information.” This may include, but is not limited to, a person’s name, company name, physical address, telephone number, and email address. To respond to the visitor’s request, this information may be shared with employees of PI Worldwide as well as with PI Worldwide’s distributors and their employees and subcontractors.
- Purpose of collecting this information
We use the information we collect to provide services which you request and to enhance the user experience.
PI Worldwide may elect to generate “cookies” which are used only for the purpose of improving the user experience. Users may reject a cookie with the understanding that access to and use of the site may be limited. Cookies that are stored on the user’s hard drive are used to assist with login defaults (i.e., persistent cookies which contain a user name which is frequently an email address) and to maintain session state during use of our secure applications (i.e., session cookies) and to track activity on the Company’s site (tracking cookies).
Like most standard web servers, we use log files in order to monitor the quality of the user experience on our site. This includes Internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user’s movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. This information is not linked to personally identifiable information.
- Keeping your information private and secure
We use commercially reasonable and generally accepted precautions to protect personally identifiable information both online and off-line. Requested on-line information is encrypted and is protected with standard encryption software used in the commercial sector. We also follow generally accepted and commercially reasonable policies and procedures to protect personal information off-line. Personal information is restricted in our offices with access limited to employees who need the information to perform a specific job. The servers on which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secured and monitored environment. PI Worldwide does not sell, share, or rent collected information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement.

PI Worldwide reserves the right to disclose personal information if required by law enforcement authorities, (to the extent permitted by law and the Safe Harbor principles) and to the extent necessary to protect its legal rights.
