Mike Zani – Chief Executive Officer
Based in the Greater Boston area, Mike provides overall strategic direction for the organization with emphasis on global growth and product development to drive outstanding client results. Prior to PI Worldwide, Mike served as CEO of ShapeUp, a social SaaS wellness platform, where he grew revenues by 600% in three years. Mike currently serves on the board of directors for ShapeUp. Previously, Mike served as President of LEDCO, a manufacturer of rugged computer peripherals, Mike led its acquisition and its eventual sale to Havis-Shields, an industry leader in police radio consoles. It was at LEDCO where Mike, a customer of PI Worldwide, developed his passion for the Predictive Index as a vital management tool. Mike is a co-founder and partner of Phoenix Strategy Investments, a private investment fund, which acquired PI Worldwide in 2014. He also worked as a strategic consultant at marketing firm Digitas. An avid sailor, Mike began his career in marketing and sales with Vanguard Sailboats and was a Coach for the 1996 US Olympic Sailing Team. He holds a B.S. from Brown University and an MBA from Harvard.
Daniel Muzquiz – Chairman and President
Daniel is responsible for the execution of the corporate strategy through the oversight of internal operations for the company including technology, finance, business analytics and science. In addition, Daniel is a founder and managing director at Phoenix Strategy Investments, a private equity firm based in Dallas. Prior to PI Worldwide, Daniel was CEO of ExamSoft Worldwide, where he led the acquisition and grew the company’s client base by 400% to become a leading player in higher education assessments, before being acquired by Spectrum Equity in 2014. Prior to ExamSoft, Daniel was the COO of LEDCO/Chargeguard, LLC, Phoenix’s first private equity investment. Daniel first learned of the practical power of the Predictive Index at LEDCO, and became a lifelong believer. Prior to co-founding Phoenix Strategy Investments in 2002, Daniel worked as a strategy consultant for The Boston Consulting Group. He previously served as country manager for Nabors Drilling International in Mozambique and later Colombia. Daniel has a personal passion for improving public education and actively participates in reform efforts. He holds a BS in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas, and a MBA from Harvard Business School.
Brett Unzicker – Vice President of Business Development
Brett has full revenue responsibility for PI Worldwide, working with PI Worldwide Member Firms and consultants across the globe to support their strategic initiatives and growth targets. Prior to joining the company, Brett led a quarter billion dollar division of Panasonic which sold complex technology solutions into Fortune 500 and Global 100 corporations. He was responsible for leading sales efforts in the US, coordinating deals with sister divisions worldwide, P&L management, forecasting, and working with factories in Japan on supply chain matters. Earlier in his career, Brett served as Vice President of Sales for LEDCO, a manufacturer of rugged computer peripherals. During this time, Brett used PI Worldwide solutions to manage a turn-around effort for the LEDCO sales team resulting in the implementation of a new team and culture that grew revenue 4X and profitability 3.5X in a four-year period. Brett studied economics at the University of Georgia, negotiations at Harvard Business School, and has taken various executive education courses at the Wharton School and Columbia Business School.
Greg Barnett, PhD – Vice President of Research and Development
Greg is responsible for setting and executing PI Worldwide’s scientific agenda and leading the company’s R&D department in the development, maintenance, and delivery of PI Worldwide’s science-based behavioral and skills assessments. Prior to joining PI, Greg was a Senior Managing Consultant in IBM’s Workforce Sciences and Analytics division where he worked with large global clients to build world class talent practices and lead product develop initiatives in the employee engagement and leadership assessment space. Before IBM, Greg held various leadership roles including Director of Product Development & Consulting at Hogan Assessment Systems and Director of Operations and Product Strategy for Kenexa’s assessment practice. Throughout his career, Greg has delivered thought leadership presentations both domestically and abroad for many client organizations, the Conference Board, ASTD, SHRM, and the Society for Industrial/Organizational Psychology. Greg holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from the University of Tulsa, and a B.A. (Honors) in Psychology from the University of Colorado.
Drew Fortin – Vice President of Marketing
Drew is responsible for the development and implementation of the PI Worldwide marketing strategy and leads all corporate branding, demand generation, and product marketing initiatives. Prior to joining PI Worldwide, Drew spent over a decade focused on marketing products, services, and software to businesses big and small. He was directly responsible for generating millions of dollars in revenue across the competitive intelligence, marketing services, media and advertising, and retail/ecommerce space. Drew has held senior marketing roles for world-class B2B brands like Compete, HubSpot, and Staples. Most recently, Drew was Vice President of Marketing and Digital at PennySaver USA Publishing where he led all branding and marketing efforts for the iconic California PennySaver and catered to thousands of business customers as the head of the company’s digital marketing services unit, PowerSites. Drew holds an MBA from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a BA in Music Business Management from Berklee College of Music.
Todd Kokoszka – Vice President of Technology
Todd is responsible for technology strategy, software development, and technical operations. Prior to joining PI Worldwide, Todd consulted for start-ups and large corporations, assisting with technology strategy, project leadership, and due diligence. He was the CTO of payvia, a mobile payments company and Vice President of Software Engineering for Sybase 365. He has brought successful mobile payments and analytics offerings to market while building highly available SaaS platforms. He has a Master of Software Engineering from Auburn University, a MA Ed from Wake Forest University, and a BA from the College of William & Mary.
Michelle Kozin – Vice President of Learning and Communications
Michelle is responsible for designing and implementing all of the enablement programs for the company’s global network of 400 consultants – including onboarding, learning and business development. She also manages the content and communications strategy for the organization. Prior to joining PI Worldwide, she spent many years helping organizations rapidly build and scale teams by leveraging the Predictive Index to find, hire and develop top talent. Michelle previously worked at Accenture as a Change Management Consultant where she specialized in addressing the organizational readiness needs of large enterprise software projects through training, communications and program management. Michelle earned a dual bachelor’s degree at Syracuse University where she was a Remembrance Scholar. She received her MBA from Babson College.
Matt Poepsel, PhD – Vice President of Product Management
Matt is responsible for overseeing the company’s product solution portfolio and roadmap. Prior to joining PI Worldwide, Matt co-founded Covocative, a web-based coaching software company. He previously served as the Vice President of Professional Services at Gomez, Inc. While at Gomez, he held a variety of roles including the leadership of the product management, sales engineering, consulting, and training teams. Matt spent six years in the US Marine Corps serving as an Arabic Linguist and a Reconnaissance Marine. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Excelsior College. He received his MBA and a second masters degree in management information systems from Boston University. He earned his PhD in Psychology from Capella University where he researched the effectiveness of technology-enabled coaching.
Helen Pepper Hailer – Director of Human Resources
Helen brings over 20 years of human resources management experience to PI Worldwide. Helen joined the organization in 2008 to implement and provide strategic direction for human resources programs including employment, benefits, compensation, payroll and employee relations.
Prior to joining PI Worldwide, Helen’s business experience included human resources management and consulting in various industries including health care and non-profit.
Helen earned a bachelor’s degree in management from Virginia Tech.
